Battery and mains powered. 6x AA required for battery functioning. Super robust and reliable. Just used to staple 5,000 times for a political campaign and bought a week ago. Zero problems with it. Every 250 sheets or so you will need a pliers to remove a mild staple jam from the front (the staple will stick out like fangs) when it staples twice accidentally, every 250 sheets or so. It's got a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer which I'll make sure you're able to activate - and enforce if necessary down the line.
